1 Co-occurrence The co-occurrence pattern of the rising-falling contour can indicate how the speakers themselves embed the contour with respect to other linguistic devices that have a specific impact on the organisation of turn-taking. g. initial ifclauses (if you go there/wenn du da hingehst) on the syntactic level, and utterances which are part of story-telling or some other ‘big package’ on the semanto-pragmatic level.
